Right of Reply

Their Words.
In Full.

Every named subject of a receipt is offered seventy-two hours of right-of-reply before publication. When a reply lands on the record, it prints below — in full, unedited, attributed. We don't paraphrase.

No printed replies — yet.

When a named subject responds on the record inside the seventy-two-hour window, their reply prints here, verbatim, with their attribution. The Wall of Shame tracks the silence. The Wall of Shame is currently 4 entries deep.

If you are a named subject and want to reply, the reply window is at info@btp.com.

How a reply gets printed.

  1. Notice. Every named subject is sent a copy of the receipt with the source documents at least seventy-two hours before publication.
  2. Reply window. Replies received on the record within the window print in full alongside the receipt.
  3. Late replies. Replies received after publication still print here, with the date received and the date received vs. the date published.
  4. No paraphrase. We do not paraphrase. If you don't want to be quoted, say so on the record and we will note that you declined to comment.
  5. No off-the-record. If a reply comes off the record, we will not print it. The Wall of Shame will note the receipt went out without a reply.
